Critical Insurance Update

Important insurance changes are on the horizon for United Healthcare (UHC) families and The Lactation Network (TLN).

As of September 1st, UHC will only be covering parents for lactation visits - not your baby/babies.

⚠️ This means that The Lactation Network (TLN) will no longer accept NEW patients with United Healthcare after September 1st.

✅ As of now, families with UHC plans verified through TLN before September 1st can still be seen by It’s More Than Milk.

🤰Expectant parents that have UHC and would like to work with us should get their insurance verified through TLN as soon as possible.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Families deserve better. Lactation care doesn’t involve just the parent or just the baby. As IBCLCs, we work with both parent and baby.

👩‍⚕️Providers deserve to be paid for their expertise. We are working with TWO or more patients at every lactation visit. The complete nursing dyad needs to be supported every step of the way.

⏳️For now, we’re not moving away from TLN. We’ll share this information in a timely manner if needed.

📃 After September 1st, new UHC visits will be self pay. Those families still receive itemized receipts (super bills) to submit for reimbursement.

🤬 Mad about this? Yeah, us, too. If you’re a UHC member, contact them to voice your frustration. Not only does this change reduce access to lactation support, it minimizes the importance for frequent touch points with new parents in a critical period of their life.

❓️Send us an email. We will do our best to answer questions, assist with scheduling, and help you navigate options. You deserve high quality, compassionate lactation care. We remain committed informing, supporting, and empowering families with their lactation and infant feeding journeys.
